GG Valentine
Owner Barbara Kearney and Rider Jennifer Alfano
GG Valentine was imported by Redfield in 2001 and purchased by Barbara Kearney with her trainers Jennifer Alfano and Susie Schoellkopf. Alfano and GG were Champions at almost every major horse show in the country including Devon, Washington, Pennsylvania National, and the National Horse Show. Owner Barbara Kearney talks about GG:
"I purchased GG Valentine from Emil Spadone, Redfield Farm, NJ, and I first saw her in a field at Emil's Ocala farm. Jennifer Alfano, my trainer, and I had been looking for a hunter prospect, and she called me to come to Ocala ASAP, as she thought she had run into a special horse. GG had just come out of quarantine. Sharon O'Neil and I watched the pair negotiate some schooling fences while working around Emil's ring. Needless to say, our excitement grew as we watched the picture that Jennifer and she made. Sharon said to me, if you don't buy her I will! The rest is history.
I had two special grandparents in my life: my grandfather, George Grant Blaisdell, and my grandmother Gail Valentine. Hence the name, GG Valentine, came to be. Also, Valentine's Day was just around the corner!
My proudest moment was watching her win the $100,000 National Horse Show Hunter Championship at Madison Square Garden in 2001. That was just one of so many competitions that she and Jennifer won throughout her career, but it was the most special for me. I thought my heart was going to pop out of my mouth! Also, that was the last National Horse Show at Madison Square Garden."
